Services

Social Workers are trained to wear many hats. Below you will find information about how I approach the different roles and services I provide.

Therapeutic Interventions

Grief, Bereavement and Loss

My approach to grief focuses on creating a space where you are met with care and understanding when you fully express the depths and sorrows of your experience. While death is a part of life, we are rarely taught how to navigate the transformative and sometimes traumatizing process of losing someone. Instead, we are told there is a timeline for grief and encouraged to move on as soon as possible. The isolation, frustration, and devastation can leave us feeling as if we have no solid ground to stand on.

My grief work focuses on normalization, ritual building, storytelling, somatic processing, validation, and growing your capacity to live alongside your loss. Just because your person is no longer present does not mean the relationship you have with them ceases to exist. Together we can explore that connection and create rituals to help you care for yourself and your relationship to your person in the years to come. If you feel ready, I would be honored to walk with you through this part of your story.

Mental Health, Fortitude, and Wellness

Sometimes we know something is off, but when we try to identify or explain it, we feel like we hit a wall. Normal human emotions and struggles can start to feel heavy, and over time we can begin to suffer or feel stuck. We may become detached from our desires, values, wants, and needs, which takes a toll on our relationships and our sense of self.

My approach supports you in re-connecting with your feelings and grounding your actions in your values and highest self. Through reflective practice and holding space for your feelings and struggles, my hope is that you will deepen your relationship with yourself and find the ability to move with integrity and act in your own best interest. We can work together to build resilience, manage stress, and navigate the uncertainty that often comes with life transitions. If you are looking to clarify your goals, reconnect with your sense of purpose, or find sustainable ways to care for yourself, I will support you in taking steps that feel true to who you are.

Together, we can develop boundaries, learn to navigate conflict, work through imposter syndrome, cope with anxiety, and strengthen your overall day-to-day wellness. I also value the connection between mind and body, and can help you explore grounding techniques, mindfulness, and other practices that support your emotional health.

Burnout, Caregivers, and Helpers

The world turns because of people who give care. Every day, people in many roles put on a brave face and show up for those who rely on them. But what happens when the thoughts and feelings behind that brave face become too much to carry and you feel as though everything is slipping through your fingers? How do you cope when you suddenly find yourself in a role reversal with a parent because of a disease you barely know the name of?

These situations, and others like them, are often endured in silence. I believe in creating a space where the care-ers can receive care. This includes skill building, psychoeducation, and moral encouragement. My approach works to ease shame, challenge stigma, and help helpers get their needs met by offering a non-judgemental space to explore struggles and find ways to move forward in a sustainably.

Indigenous First Nations, and Metis

The majority of my career has involved working with Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island. As an intern, I provided support to a diverse population of First Nations, Métis, and Indigenous women experiencing houselessness and poverty in Tiohtià:ke. I currently work full-time for Kahnawà:ke Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services as an Elders Caseworker, where I provide psychosocial, mental health, and case management services for Elders and their families in the community.

My experience and training have made me attuned to working with each person’s cultural needs and worldview, even when they differ from the dominant culture. I hold space for the complexities and tensions that can arise when clinicians and clients work within colonial frameworks while trying to heal colonial harms, including the deep impact of intergenerational trauma.

My practice uses Two-Eyed Seeing as a model to inform how I use western theraputic methods along with the needs, desires, and worldview of my clients. I also honor wholistic approaches and traditional spiritual practices as part of healing when clients wish to include them. Most of all, I prioritize relationship building and allow time for trust and comfort to develop so we can approach each concern in a way that is collaborative and restorative. You are not just a box on my resume or a career stepping stone from me, you are sacred beings who deserve to have their healing journey be witnessed, respected, and enouraged on your terms.

I am proud to offer my services to Indigenous individuals for free under the NIHB program. You must have a band number to qualify.

Please note that I do not offer psychotherapy treatment, as psychotherapy is a protected act that can only be practiced by a Registered Psychotherapist through the OPQ.

Psychosocial Assessments

In addition to the reserved acts I perform as a registered Social Worker, I am also trained and certified to conduct psychosocial assessments for petitions to homologate a protective mandate and applications for tutorships through the Social Work order. In Quebec, these assessments are used as a part of the process to help determine how to best protect the rights of someone who has lost their ability to care for themselves in a way that maintains their dignity and safety. I travel across the greater Montreal area and conduct my assessments in english.
